This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

So Sweet 1870's Outfit
From the seller:
Adorable 3 piece ensemble from the first bustle period, probably from the dates 1869 - 1874. All the major pieces are trimmed with a ruffle of self fabric, which appears to be silk faille. The pieces are further trimmed with double box pleated darker brown silk that has been cut on the bias and the edges frizzed. The skirt is flat to the waistband in front and the side panels and back are cartridge pleated into the waistband. The overskirt is constructed is the same. The overskirt has two bows on each side connecting the the front and back sections. The bows are stiffened with crinoline. The bodice and skirt are fully lined. The overskirt is not. The sleeves are very large and are trimmed with a bow. The bodice has damage to the front edge (photo 6) and both underarms are shattered (photos 10 & 11). There are 8 silk covered half ball buttons covered in tatting. One of the buttons has damage. There are scattered holes and a few stains throughout the ensemble. The dark brown trim is coming loose in spots and needs to be reattached. The size is very small. Approximately bust 30 inches and waist 20. The skirt is 36 inches long in the front.
From Me:
I completely adore this outfit. It looks like a confection! I'm putting it a little later than the seller -closer to the 1874 date.
