This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Burgundy Bustle Era Dress
From the seller:
Burgundy silk faille, velvet and satin bustle gown dating to the 1880's. Front ball button closure on the bodice with interesting velvet sawtooth design on sleeves outlined in beads, bow back, skirt with all the bells and whistles of the period, with splashy vertical satin bows , layers of box pleats, applique beading, swag bustle back. In good antique uncleaned as found condition, the fabric is still strong, all the buttons present, some discoloring to the silk bows and elsewhere, some loss to the bead outline. As found. Chest measures 32", waist 24", length of skirt 39".
Wishing all my wonderful customers a healthy, productive, peaceful and prosperous New Year! Stay tuned in the next few weeks while I list some beautiful select vintage clothing from one incredibly sweet best dressed Diva's closet... including Mr. Blackwell and Lilli Ann.
From Me:
I almost think this is an 1870's gown that was remade to the 1880's fashion based up on the cut of the sleeves. However, we'll go for 1880's for now.
