This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Mid to Late 1860's Bodice
From the seller:
This antique Victorian Civil War era bronze silk fringe trim afternoon bodice top dates from the 1860s. It is hand stitched, made of a golden brown bronze color silk moire fabric, with a umber color silk fringe tassel trim around the yoke and sleeve cuffs. This beautiful bodice top would have been worn during the afternoon and has a high rounded neckline, long full sleeves with white lace trim cuffs, a short cropped fitted waist and silk covered buttons down the front for closure. It is fully lined in a brown cotton twill fabric inside. The bodice measures 15 inch long, with a 24 inch waist, 34 inch bust, 15 inch back and 19 inch long sleeves. It is in good wearable condition, with only some small faint discoloration stains (see close-up). This a wonderful piece of wearable Civil War era Victoriana textile art!
From Me:
I'm thinking about 1866 on this one.
