This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. Ante-Bellum Lady's Bodice
From the seller:
VICTORIAN 1850s charming silk bodice
beautiful early gold metal hook and eye closures
stripe daytime plaid silk
Pretty blue ribbon trim
Drop shoulder with hand stitched gathering
Blue silk buttons with lace covering
tailored wasp waist
Boning in the front of the jacket
COLOR: sage green , celery , blue
MATERIAL : silk
MEASURES: bust= 35 length= 18 sleeve= 21 shoulder= 20 waist= 26
CONDITION : Good vintage condition , shows wear from age, some shattering to the armpits, some crazing and some color fading and bleeding, buttons have loss of lace covering. Sold AS IS

This is more likely very early 1860's. I almost want to say this is from the American Civil War era, but very early on. It's in that late 1850's/early 1860's either way.
