This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Black with Rose Print Edwardian Dress
From the seller:
THIS IS THE REAL DEAL, IT IS ABSOLUTLY STUNNING!!! I DID SOME RESEARCH AND THE TAG ON THIS GOWN IS FROM RUSSELL AND ALLEN STORE THAT WAS ON OLD BOND STREET IN LONDON. THIS SHOP WAS THRIVING AROUND THE LATE 1800S AND 1900S. THIS DRESS IS BREATHTAKING. IT IS 2 PIECES AND TOP AND SKIRT WITH A TRAIN. THE TOP HAS HUGE PUFF SLEEVES AND IT IS VERY HEAVY WITH LOTS OF LACE ON THE BODICE OVER TOP A SHEER FLORAL FABRIC, THE SLEEVES HAVE STITCHED TOGETHER LACE AND THE BOTTOM OF THE SLEEVE HAS VERY HEAVY THICK BLACK LACE AND IVORY LACE. THE FABRIC ON THE TOP ALSO HAS HAND THREADED SMALL DOTS ALL OVER IT. IT HOOKS IN THE FRONT AND THE COLLAR GOES AROUND AND HOOKS ON THE SIDE. THE TOP OF THE COLLAR HAS LAYERED PINK VELVET AND LIGHT GREEN VELVET. THE BOTTOM OF THE BLOUSE HAS A LIGHT GREEN VELVET SASH THAT HOOKS AROUND THE BACK, THE TAG IS ON THE INSIDE OF THIS TOP STITCHED TO A WAIST BAND. ONE OF THE SLEEVES HAS SOME BROWN SPOTTING ON THE IVORY LACE AT BOTTOM SEE PICTURES. THE LIGHT GREEN VELVET SASH HAS SOME FAINT SPOTTING BUT IS NOT NOTICEABLE. THE LINING OF THIS BLOUSE AS YOU CAN SEE IS TATTERED. THIS PIECE AS YOU CAN SEE CAN BE DISPLAYED BUT IF WORN WOULD NEED A NEW LINING INSIDE. AS THE STEEL BONING AND SUCH HAS COME LOOSE. THE TRAIN HAS THE SAME SHEER FLORAL BLACK FABRIC OVER TOP A BUTTER YELLOW TAFFETA MATERIAL LINING. IT HAS A BLACK VELVET WAIST BAND WITH HOOKS. ALSO HAS THE HAND STITCHING DOTS ALL OVER IT AND TONS OF BLACK LACE. AS YOU CAN SEE THERE ARE ABOUT 4 LARGER HOLES IN THE SHEER MATERIAL AT TOP OF WAIST HOWEVER IF PULLED UP HIGH ENOUGH THE TOP MAY COVER THEM. THE UNDERLAYER OF THE TRAIN IS A DINGY GREY COLOR WITH A BIT OF A RUFFLE ON THE HEM OF IT TO GIVE THE TRAIN SOME FULLNESS AT THE END, THIS LINING IS COMING APART AND HAS HOLES IN IT. THE SHEER PART ON THE TRAIN AND THE BLOUSE ARE IN VERY GOOD CONDITION THOUGH AS WELL AS ALL THE LACES, THEY SEEM PRETTY STRONG., THE LINING IN THE TRAIN AND THE LINING IN THE BLOUSE ARE THE REAL PROBLEMS HERE MEASUREMENTS THE TOP FROM ARMPIT TO ARMPIT MEASURES 19 INCHES LYING FLAT, THE WAIST IS 14 INCHES LYING FLAT THE SKIRT IS 42 INCHES LONG, THE TRAIN IS 67 INCHES FROM BACK OF WAIST TO END. WAIST IS 14 INCHES LYING FLAT. I TRY TO LIST ALL DAMAGE I SEE ON THESE AND THIS IS A VERY BEAUTIFUL DRESS WITH LOTS OF POTENTIAL, IT IS VERY GOOD DISPLAY DRESS AND WITH SOME REINFORCEMENTS TO THE LINING ON THE BLOUSE AND TRAIN WOULD PROBABLY BE WEARABLE AS WELL. I AM OFFERING THIS AT A NO RESERVE!!. CHECK MY OTHER LISTINGS FOR MORE OF THESE PIECES I ALSO HAVE OLD THEATER PIECES, KIMONOS AND SUCH THAT CAME IN THIS SAME TOTE THAT WAS FROM AN OLD THEATER SITE. I SHIP WITHIN 7 BUISNESS DAYS THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE SATURDAY SUNDAYS OR HOLIDAYS.
From Me:
I loathe all caps. I much prefer not capitalization at all because it makes it so much easier to read. However, it sounds like this is a larger dress with a 38" bust and a 28" waist. Remember, this with a corset.
The dress is from the early 1900's.
