This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Polished Cotton Blue Skirt
From the seller:
This auction is for a most gorgeous antique 1800s polished cotton ruffled skirt from the Victorian era. It has tons of material and the polished cotton is of the utmost quality in an exquisite and rare shade of blue. It is not aqua or peacock blue as photos may appear. The waistline is very small and the front is higher in front than back (see Photo 2). One will love this........... It is being sold "As is" since there may be minor flaws inherent with age;there are no rips, tears or stains....it is in very good condition. It has a wonderful drape, is very full and has the crisp swooshing noise. It is simply stunning...
From Me:
My guess is this is from the 1890's. The ruffles, the overall shape of the skirt, and the slight train would indicate the late Victorian era.
