American Civil War Era Dress

From the seller:

VINTAGE VICTORIAN DRESS

Moss Green in color

Estate Sale

A very modest dress.

Soft taffeta lined with cotton, capped bell sleeves, gathered at the waist, hook and eye closure down the bodice, trim on caps of the sleeves and on the ends of the sleeves, plain neck and front (may have originally had some sort of lace overlay) very long full skirt, hand sewn in many areas including neckline and waist gathering areas. The neckline appears to have been altered slightly to form a more pointed rather than a tight round neckline.

Condition: some discoloration in the arm pits and in one area on the full skirt(not very noticable) The fabric is strong without any sign of rot, this is a wearable garment as it is now.

Measurements:

32" waist, 34" bust, 55" length

From Me:

I think the measurements *might* be off. It's possible that this really is a 32" waist but with a 34" bust, I'm not sure. A Victorian lady would want more than a two inch difference between her bust and her waist.
