This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Wonderful Shiney Blue Bodice
From the seller:
This is a magnificent Victorian changeable blue violet (as you can see from the photos) silk taffeta dress bodice. It has a ruched front panel trimmed in lace and a decorative stitched collar with pleats on either side. There is also a pinked ruffle on the front panel and collar. The sleeves are huge Leg o' Mutton with decorative cuffs and the waistband has a little rosette.
Inside there is a "bust enhancer" (photo) sewn in which is a large ruffle on either side of the hooks and eyes.
The bodice is lined in cotton and stayed.
The waist strap has a label that reads:
Karle & Rhines
Rochester, NY
It is from around 1890 - 1900.
It fastens with hooks and eyes.
Condition:
The silk around the very top of the neck and under the lace front is shattered ( you can see it in the photo with the bust enhancer). There are is a stain on the front on one of the pleats (photo) and on one sleeve (photo).
The bodice measures:
neck.....16"
sleeve....22"
armhole opening around.....16"
bust.....36"
waist....30"
shoulder to shoulder...15"
length neck to waist......16"
From Me:
Wow! This looks to be in *perfect* condition. The color is lovely and the details are wonderful. I'm so glad the seller took close up shots!
