American Civil War Era Dress





From the seller:

ANTIQUE CIRCA 1866-1867 LADIES BLUE ,WHITE AND BROWN SILK DRESS WITH SHIMMERY CHOCOLATE BROWN SILK FRINGE ON BODICE SHOULDERS AND CUFFS.

~BEAUTIFUL IRIDESCENT LIKE PLAID SILK FABRIC IN BLUE, BROWN AND CREAM WITH FABRIC COVERED BUTTONS~

CONDITION: AS -IS. FAIR CONDITION. DAMAGE TO FABRIC UNDER BOTH ARMS AS SHOWN IN LAST

2 PHOTOS, SMALL MINOR REPAIRS NEEDED TO RE-ATTACH PARTS OF FRINGE, BUTTON

MISSING,WEAR TO BODICE AT FRONT EDGE NEAR BUTTONS AND 1 & 1/2 INCH TEAR TO FRONT NEAR

BUTTONS AT WAIST.

SKIRT FRONT AND SOME OF SKIRT BACK IS SPOTTED HEAVILY WITH TINY

HOLES AND SOME SMALL (SMALLER THAN A DIME SIZED SEE PHOTO SHOWN WITH DIME) HOLES.

BODICE TOP AND MOST OF THE BACK OF SKIRT AREA SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN SPAIRED. A GIFTED

SEAMSTRESS COULD TURN THE WHOLE LOWER SKIRT AROUND FOR THE BEST VIEW OF THIS

TEXTILE. NO ODORS.



THIS IS NOT A DRESS THAT CAN BE WORN, BUT IS STILL A BEAUTIFUL DRESS FOR RESEARCH ,

STUDY, A COLLECTOR, OR FOR A MUSEUM . DISPLAYS VERY NICELY.

From Me:

Although it may have still been worn in 1867, this dress is from about five years prior. It looks like it might have been altered from an 1850's dress, making it even older.
