Tailored Ladies' Suit, Turn of the Century

Hello New People!

I'm glad to see so many new people coming to my blog. Feel free to comment on any of the posts.

From the seller:

This auction is for a very Elegant Turn of the Century walking suit. This is the type of tailored ensemble which inspired later great designers like Adrian to create the fabulous suits of Hollywood's Golden Age. It's severe masculine tailoring is relieved by applied Military-style braid down the front, back and cuffs. A hint of Luxury is achieved by the lush brown silk velvet collar. The fabric is a fine ribbed wool, almost a corduroy. The skirt is gored, except at center back. The placket closure has an inverted box pleat built in. An ingenious arrangement of hooks keeps the placket closed smoothly over the hips, retaining the stark tailored appearance while letting the skirt flow freely in the back below the hips allowing ease of movement; A triumph of Victorian Tailoring! Condition is structurally very good, there are rips to the silk jacket lining, and light water stains on the skirt. the buttons are later replacements, but look great. Measurements are: SKIRT= 22 inch waist & 36 inch length. JACKET=27 inch waist and 33 inch bust. Please note: This item is sold AS-IS, so please ask all questions prior to bidding. Payment via PayPal is due within 3 days of auctions end. We have 17 years experience collecting and selling antique & vintage clothing and related items. International Bidders Welcomed! Thanks and Happy Bidding!
