This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Summer Teens Era Dress
From the seller:
UP FOR AUCTION
AUTHENTIC HANDMADE 1800'S WEDDING DRESS
FOR THE AGE OF THIS DRESS, THE CONDITION IS VERY GOOD, BUT I WOULDN'T THINK IT COULD BE WORN. IT IS FRAGILE. HANDMADE BY BRIDE'S MOTHER. THERE WAS A NOTE TAPED TO THE BOX IT WAS STORED IN, BUT NO NAME TO IDENTIFY. I'VE TAKEN EXTRA PHOTO'S TO SHOW YOU DESIGN OF DRESS. IT WAS PURCHASED AT AN ANTIQUE AUCTION RECENTLY. SEEMS TO BE MADE OF A SILKY COTTON MUSLIN? I REALLY DON'T KNOW. HERE ARE THE APPROX MEASUREMENTS. (PLEASE SEE THE SHOES AND THE OTHER DRESS -MAYBE THE BRIDESMAID'S? THAT CAME WITH THE WEDDING DRESS IN MY OTHER LISTINGS - SOROSIS SHOES)
LENGTH - 48"
WAIST - 12"
TOTAL ARM LENGTH - 18"
6 TINY BUTTONS IN FRONT
THIS WOULD MAKE A GREAT ADDITION FOR YOUR ANTIQUE CLOTHING COLLECTION!
PLEASE E-MAIL WITH QUESTIONS. DELIVERY CONFIRMATION INCLUDED IN PURCHASE. PAYPAL ONLY. NO REFUND. I HAVE 100% FEEDBACK WHICH I'M PROUD OF.
THANKS FOR LOOKING AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

On Dec-07-11 at 10:06:17 PST, seller added the following information:
I'VE BEEN ADVISED THAT THE ABOVE ITEM IS NOT "1800'S, BUT RATHER A LOVELY EXAMPLE OF THE EDWARDIAN PERIOD 1910-1914 AND ALTHOUGH THE NOTE DOES SAY WEDDING DRESS, IT PROBABLY WAS A SUMMER DRESS.
THANKS,
ELLEN
From Me:
*grins* Yes, I messaged this lady before the auction ended. This dress was just too nice for her not to have the right info and, therefore, not be able to sell it to the audience that would want it. It's probably from around the Titanic Era (ie,1912 ish).
