Late Victorian, Early Edwardian Half Mourning (?) Dress

Vintage Antique VICTORIAN BLACK SILK DRESS Suit Mourning

Two-piece late Victorian walking suit. Black silk with self stripe trimmed with kelly green velvet. Bodice has embroidered chiffon insert at center front, mock neck, long sleeves with velvet cuffs, asymmetrical front closure, and is fully boned. Full a-line skirt has three rows of pleated black silk at hem and center back hook and eye closure. Both pieces are lined.
VINTAGE CONDITION: Very good with minor wear throughout including loss of nap in some areas of the velvet, scattered spots of shattering in bodice and skirt, as well as silk chiffon in bodice that is missing and torn. Overall fabric is stable and garment is in very wearable condition. Further photographs available upon request.

From Me:

If this is a mourning outfit, it's half mourning. The wonderful bright green trim would go against any full mourning attire. To me, it also looks like a Miss outfit (ie, juniors) rather than an adult.
