Wonderful Victorian cotton day or wrap dress in much coveted brown. I love this print, very 1890's. Dress has its original brown glass buttons. Double draw string, adjustable waist. Beautifully hand done buttonholes. Button cuff sleeves, with brown and white stenciled buttons. Hand and machine stitching.
I measured flat across the front: armpit to armpit: 18"; waist: adjustable. shoulder seam to shoulder seam across back: 15"; length from shoulder to waist: about 15". Waist to hem: 43". Sleeve length: 22".
This dress does not appear to have seen much wear. In fact, it still needs to be hemmed. As you can see from the pic, it's quite long. So the buyer has a chance to get the length exactly right.
Despite it's lack of wear, there are still a few issues that need attention. The drawstrings need to be removed and reinserted and pulled through the entire waist circumference. And it needs some underarm seam reinforcement, easy fix if you can sew. But, really there are no major problems here. Great Victorian housedress, or prairie dress. I've owned it for years, now it's time for someone else to enjoy it.

The collar shape and the sleeve shape suggest a later date than 1890's. I'm going with 1900's on this one.
