This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Theater Piece Victorian Styled Bodice
From the seller:
From one of the Antique San Francisco estate I am currently listing come this fabulous small Victorian Corsett with bone ribbing. Very good condition. Please email with any questions and please see my other offerings.
From Me:
Based on the very colorful modernesque print on the inside, I'm taking a guess this was a theater costume piece from the 20th century. Also the closure would suggest more 1940's than 1860's despite the cut. In the 1940's, it was common for theaters to take older garments and reuse or remake them into theater costumes due to rationing. So, although it has boning, the way the boning is placed is almost the way we would do is today (most Victorian/Edwardian pieces have zigzag stitching over the bones).
