This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

1870's (?) Jacket
From the seller:
Vintage VICTORIAN ERA hand made silk jacket in great condition with gorgeous details. The peak lapel and bottom front are in a beautiful green coloring and in amazing condition. There are two brown colored spots on the front bottom right panel but all are visually difficult to detect. The second to last picture of the sleeve cuff shows a good example of the size and color of the various brown spots. The silk around the collar has some wear but not extensive. The green silk is also the trim around the entire garments ruffle details and in perfect condition. The back silk panels are in perfect condition. The body of the jacket is made of a ribbed corde style silk and has various small black spots as shown. These are not holes but worn off sheen on the silk. From what I can detect three of them have developed into very small holes. One on the back, one on the left upper arm, and one next to the front right lapel. The entire piece is extremely durable and tailored with excellence. The inside is completely lined in baby blue wool with quite a few moth holes at the bottom back as shown. There is also a cluster of hole on the top back neck area. The rest of the body and sleeves are in great condition with no holes or stains of any kind. The size is small but not tiny like a lot of Victorian pieces making this a wearable piece for the vintage lover. The pictures depict the unique style and detailing the best. Overall, it’s a gorgeous high quality vintage piece. Please note the measurements below and don’t hesitate to contact me for further details.

Based on the sleeve and the cut of the back, I think this is 1870's. I'm really not sure though. It is lovely!
