This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

1890's Blue Tea Gown
From the seller:
Vintage antique Victorian navy blue silk taffeta dressing gown robe. A stunning piece with full balloon shoulders, pleated ruffles ending at a slight train. This has watteau pleating on the back and closes in front with a snap on the front tie piece. (I think the snap has been replaced, it looks newer). Lined in striped silk. Small size.
Not recently cleaned. There are significant stains on inside lining on bodice section and skirt section. A very little bit of the lining staining shows through the blue silk - but is extremely hard to see. There are areas of fabric weakness on the forearms and underarms. Two small spots on the left side about 1/2 way down the gown. A few small pin head sized holes on the back and a bit of fabric wear on the bow decoration on the back. The silk is in overall great condition on the outside.
Length 51"
Bust 30"
From Me:
My guess is that measured the garment and the measurement is not for the size it would actually fit. This is a late 1890's tea gown and would have gone over a looser fit dress.
