This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Black and Gold with Pink Floral Civil War Era Dress
From the seller:
1860's Golden & Black Taffeta Day Dress: I just love these old civil war era plaids. This 1860;s two piece dress is made of silk taffeta. The bust is 29, the waist is 23, the skirt length is 39 and it is 154 inches around the bottom. The skirt and bodice are totally lined. The skirt is in good condition with a repair to the waist band and a few scattered small holes. The bodice has mother of pearl buttons. They are all there. The ribbon on the front is not original. It dates to around 1910. There is wear and holes under one arm. See photo. There is a smattering of small holes on the shoulders and around the neck and a few on the sleeves. The front of the bodice has quite a lot of wear. See close up photos. The dress makes a charming silhouette. The bidding will start at 25.00.
From Me:
Although this style was still worn during the American Civil War, I thinks this is actually late 1850's rather than 1860's. The sleeve style this is sporting was more popular in the 1850's and the v-front waist was also more popular in the 1850's.
