This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Beautiful Brown Bustle
From the seller:
This is a pretty 3 piece silk post Civil War Victorian dress.
The bodice has a ruffle around the neck, brown silk fringe, decorative cording, brown silk bows on sleeves and back. It buttons down the front and I am not sure if the buttons are original.
The skirt has a silk piped band around the bottom and slightly trained in the back. It fastens in the back with hook and eye.
The overskirt has ruching, cording, fringe, and bustles in the back.
Condition:
The skirt is in good condition with several small stains and a few tiny holes. The overskirt is in good to fair condition with stains and three tears just under the front waistband. It is lined with polished cotton.
The bodice is in fair to poor condition with numerous tears mostly on the shoulders and top of the sleeves and back. It is lined with brown cotton and stayed in the front.
The bodice measures:
bust.......32"
shoulder to shoulder......15"
waist..........25"
sleeve...........23"
The skirt measures:
waist to hem front.....42"
waist to hem back.....47"
waist....25"
From Me:
I sort of want to see this with a lovely fur muff and ice skates!
