Early (?) Embroidered Robe

From the seller:

I purchased this about 10 years ago from a lady that told me she once lived in Japan in the 40s and 50s and she got this robe back then. Fabulous embroidered designs in thread and what looks like fine metal chain loops. Edging looks like metal thread tatting as well as between the panels there is this metal thread holding the panels together with a see through between them. She did use this robe. I do see some marks and a little damage like a tack point where metal tatting meets edging came off fabric. Not a lot but it is old and was used so it is not perfect. I did not have this cleaned, will leave that choice up to the new owner. This is a really cool vintage piece! Great for display or lounging.

Due to "Vanity" sizing and vintage clothes not being the same size as today's clothing - always check the measurements.

Please see photos enlarged and consider them part of description.

Clothing can always be altered down or shortened, consider all possibilities for the look that suits you.

Vintage often equals one of a kind - so bid early and don't miss out. With the nature of vintage items there may be issues. I try my best to point them out. Please enlarge photos to evaluate condition for yourself. I do not pre-wash items that I purchase before selling unless noted.

From Me:

I'm not convinced it's from the 1940's or that it's even Japanese. The embroidery looks much earlier - like 1910's. The closest similar garment I can find was destined for India and made in China. And that shirt was made in the 19th C.
