This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Oddly Plain 1880's Dress
From the seller:
An elegant 1880’s Princess style wedding dress that is made of ivory silk faille fabric. The bodice is trimmed with ecru silk chiffon. The sleeve cuffs, front opening and hemline are trimmed with ecru lace. The dress is fully lined with cotton and the lining has a front hook and eye closure. The dress has a back train. It is in very good and clean condition. There are no holes or splits in the fabric. There is no underarm discoloration and no other discoloration, just shadows created by the camera flash. There are a couple of very tiny age spots, a small line of soiling on the edge of the hemline and two age marks on the inside lining that do not show on the silk fabric. Shoulders 14 Bust 30 Waist 24 Front length from shoulder to hemline 53 back length 60.
From Me:
In a way, I love the plainness of it because we can see the cutting and draping of this garment a lot easier. I doubt it was a wedding gown.
