This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Turn of the Century Black Sheer Gown
From the seller:
This is a gorgeous black 2 piece Victorian dress. The fabric is sheer silky net like with a woven leaf and dot design.
The neckline on the bodice is sequined and beaded all the way around as are the ends of the sleeves. It also has pleats across the front and back, huge puffed sleeves, a silk band around the waist, and a sequin and beaded ornament at the back. The bodice is lined and stayed and the skirt is not lined.
The skirt has rows of pleats running from top to bottom and smaller pleats across. It is slightly trained in the back.
It fastens in the back with hook and eye.
Condition:
The dress is in good wearable condition. There is a 2 inch tear on one of the puffed sleeves and a tiny tear near the hem on the skirt.
The bodice measures:
bust.......38"
shoulder to shoulder......17"
waist..........27"
sleeve...........18"
The skirt measures:
waist to hem front.....42"
waist to hem back.....47"
waist....27"
From Me:
This is very late 1890's - about 1898 or so.
