This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Men's American Civil War Era Vest
From the seller:
Mid 1800s mens waistcoat of silk with raised velvet pile foliage motif, notched shawl collar. Carved shell buttons, leather trim at front bottom...back has been split and enlarged with a piece of flour sack at some point in time. Some wear to inside of collar at nape of neck, a few stitches loose where leather trim attaches to front...no stains or holes, worn under a jacket will be gorgeous!
40" across chest, 32" waist, 22" long
From Me:
My *guess* is about 1860's. I'm not as well versed in Victorian Men's fashions; anyone have a better date?
