This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Red Bustle Era Petticoat (?)
From the seller:
This is a lovely very soft cotton chintz fabric. It is plain red with a nicely detailed pleated ruffle along the bottom.
24” waist secures with an eyehook
40 ½” long in the front
Skirt is 104” in circumference at the bottom
In very good condition, very minimal fading from age along the bottom only visible when held up to the light, almost not worth mentioning. The image that is closest in color to the actual skirt is the bottom image of the close up of the ruffle. This auction is for the skirt only, the blouse is not included.
This skirt came in the trunks purchased at an estate sale in Maine full of Victorian and Edwardian era clothing that I am currently selling on Ebay
From Me:
My guess is this was the underskirt for a fabulous bustle era gown. Only the hem would have shown.
