This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Edwardian Duster
From the seller:
With the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic coming up, here's a great wearable piece and details are pretty fantastic. This could be a really fancy duster, which is a coat that covered your clothing when driving before they had cabs on the car. Or it could be just a beautiful coatIt consists of natural linen, with flattering princess lines front and back. The front closes asymmetrically.
The large shawl collar , patch pockets and turned back cuffs, are embroidered by hand in an Arts & Crafts era pattern , of curry colored cotton thread. The buttons are truly amazing, astray are metal with ombre celluloid inserts and the are on the front, pockets, cuffs and the back in varying sizes. Unlined. It is perfect , no stains holes or marks. It could be made up to 4" bigger all over by moving the buttons over. A rare find!
