This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Polka Dots! 1890's outfit
From the seller:
ITEM: vintage / antique 3 pc outfit/dress - skirt, top/blouse and jacket ( or maybe this is just a second blouse) - all in a navy fabric with white polka dots.
DESIGN / PATTERN: I believe this to be victorian, both top and jacket are boned and have hook and eye closures, they have sleeves that are huge puffy on top and very thin and fitted near the wrist. the skirt is very full, the collar is high. I supposed it's possible it's a costume, but it was found with other clothing of same style that has an old tag...
blouse 1 has a blue ribbon decoration and has hook and eye closure up the entire front, has little rick rack on the collar , bodice is boned
Jacket /blouse 2 has blue velvet on the bottom of the sleeves and on the collar, bodice is boned also, blue velvet bow on the back - the fabric is same as the first, pretty thin, so perhaps it's' not a jacket but just another blouse ( there are underarm stains on this one more so on the other which would not make sense if it was worn over the first )
COLOR: navy with white polka dots
MATERIAL: not sure
CONDITION: very nice except for under arm stains(jacket/blouse 2 the blue ran into the white polka dots ) , a few other minor flaws here and there, a few things need some repair stitches, etc. ribbon is loose, some hook/eye closures are missing, no major tears or stains except for the underarms. does have a musty smell from being in storage
MARK / MAKER: none -definitely hand made
AGE: I believe it's Victorian age ( late 1800s -early 1900's ?)
SIZE: Bust around 32, waist around 22"
ADDITIONAL DETAILS : see photos for details !! I'm happy to provide more photos or answer any quesitons !
