Turn of the Century Lovely Black Net and Burgundy Bodice

From the seller:

Fabulous Gay 90s antique Victorian Ladies Jacket or Bodice.

Eye catching black and bright pink! Dates from the late 1800s. Pink silk with black net lace overlay. The front is layers and glorious layers of pink silk ribbon and black french lace ruffles! The sleeves are edged in pink silk with another silk ruffle. Fully lined with cotton chintz. Fitted waist with boning. Stand up collar. Lots of snaps and pinning to get it just right. The construction is amazing!

Perfect for display or study.

Small size. The measurements are:

Waist~20"
Underarm to underarm~16" across.
Shoulders~12" across.
Sleeves~16.5" long measured under arm.
Length~14" long measured from the back neckline to hem edge.

Not bad condition. Definitely wearable and easy to display. The inside construction is impeccable! There are some fading to the pink fabric on the top of the shoulders and top edge of sleeves. Not real noticeable since this is under the black net. There are holes and runs on the black net~some big and some very small. Most at the top of the shoulders and on the fold line or top of the sleeves~all the way down. Fraying to the silk sleeve edge and at the silk ruffle on the neck. The bottom row of black lace on the front is torn all the way across. No perspiration stains on the underarms.

Fabric and seams feel sturdy and strong. Nicely made. No makers tag or labels. I have not treated or soaked this jacket.

No odors. Non smoking home.

Ready to wear or display!

From Me:

Not from the 1890's, but most likely from the 1900's. I LOVE the black net look on this beauty. If it were from the 1890's, it would have some sort of puffy sleeve - which it doesn't- and this also doesn't have any "tail" which would indicate an earlier than 1890's date. The way it closes and the sewing machine stitches show a later date so....1900's.
