This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Dark Purple Bustle Gown
From the seller:
A splendid 1880’s gray/purple silk and velvet bustle dress that has recently been de-accessioned from a museum collection. The fabric looks gray in the bright light but there is a strong purple undertone. The front of the bodice has a high neck velvet insert and velvet sleeve cuffs. The velvet has a small dotted navy blue and red small plaid pattern. The bodice has a center back peplum with two velvet tabs. The bodice is lined with cotton and the lining has a front button closure. The front insert hooks to the side. The skirt has two wide panels of velvet fabric and a bustle back. The skirt is lined with cotton. There is no wear or discoloration on the velvet fabric just shadows created by the camera flash. There is mild underarm discoloration, a few missing buttons and the skirt lining is splitting. A very stylish display dress. Bust 35 Waist 28 Skirt length 40.
From Me:
Yay! A wearable size! This looks like it would be stunning in person. I love the purple overtone to the entire outfit.
