This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Early 1920's Black Beaded Dress
From the seller:
The dress is silk and is intricately decorated with lace beading, black glass micro bead tubes and extraordinary black glass bead "tassels" on the front. It is sleeveless with a scoop neckline, a drop waist, lace hemline and 2 attached bead and sequin net lace side sashes/sarongs that give it a very dramatic flair. Gorgeous detailing!
It is in very good condition for its age but does have a few issues. The beading looks to be in good shape but there are missing spots. There are underarm stains and in some areas around the round embroidered bead detailing (front and back) there are surrounding discolorations. It looks a bit like lace illusion with flesh covered underneath, but it is not intentional. There are several holes in the delicate net lace on the attached side sashes as well. Slips over the head, there are no closures. Please check the measurements below for best idea of fit.
59 1/2 inches in length
armpit to armpit: 22 inches, measured laying flat
waist 21 inches, measured laying flat
hips up to 23 inches, measured laying flat
Absolutely stunning and unique! I can't describe the amount of work that went into this dress. It is gorgeous. And although there are issues, it is worth it just for the gorgeous black beaded "tassels" that decorate the front of the dress.
From Me:
This was clearly for a larger lady.
